    Horrible experience, poor customer service, no resolution

    I have had the worst experience with this dealer, I bought a Toyota Hybrid Auris last month and since then, I kept going to diagnosis the car with the dealership as I came a cross very low MPG and quick draining battery, broken rear defogger lines, the car had no preparation at all, I paid to service the car at the dealership, docklands motor showed me that they have replaced the very cheap brand sparkplugs. The car came with no service book and when asked about it, you can't imagine they said cars these days come with online service records only, and I had to buy it from dealership, suspension is also deteriorating and don't know how the MOT garage they used before I collected the car let it passed with no advisory at least. I have being patient enough to not leave this bad experience, but I had no other choice when I came back today to Docklands dealer to explain and share everything with them, they straight away said, *(We cannot accept the car back, if you have any issues go to the warranty company)* it is ridiculous I will share some of my photos to confirm the statement above.

    You came to view a 2017 Toyota Auris Hybrid on the 22/10/24. You thoroughly examined the vehicle. You asked our salesman if the windscreen was genuine from factory to which he replied yes. You started calling him a liar, as you couldn’t see the Toyota stamp on the windscreen when in actual fact it was right there but not in the position you were looking. You arranged another viewing with your mechanic, which we accommodated out of hours. We even had the car plugged in with a diagnostic machine. You went ahead with the purchase only after a discount of £450 was given to you. You collected the vehicle on the 30/10/24 and asked to see the service book. Unfortunately the vehicle didn’t have a service book but was fully serviced by Toyota and a digital record was provided to you with all the dates and mileages of the vehicle. Again, you didn’t believe us and rang Toyota to confirm which they did. You then said to our salesman that you were £50 short and is it possible to pay us the next day. We agreed on the basis that we would hold your spare key until the balance has been cleared. After this was mentioned to you, all of a sudden you managed to get hold of the £50. On the 8/11/24, you messaged saying the hybrid battery is not charging correctly and not giving you the mpg you expected. After speaking to you on the phone, it was clear that you were expecting MPG from a PHEV but the vehicle you purchased is not a plug in hybrid. It is important to note that hybrids are designed primarily for efficiency, using the electric motor to assist the petrol engine during acceleration and low-speed driving rather than as a fully electric vehicle. The electric range can be influenced by many factors. These cars are not made for running longer distances on battery alone. You took the vehicle to Toyota for a health check on 11/11/24, which you have provided in your review. It shows there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and the only immediate attention the vehicle needed was a missing service book and fuel treatment to keep the fuel clean. The vehicle had a full MOT and health check prior to you collecting the vehicle. The suspension is not deteriorating and Toyota has mentioned that it needs attention in the near future. There were no advisories for this on the MOT as the suspension is functioning fine and does not warrant replacement. You paid to have the vehicle serviced and the wipers changed with the main dealer at your own accord. Your finance company rang us and we explained the situation to them, provided our health check along with the one from Toyota. They closed the case and we haven’t heard anything from them since. You were then booked in a week later for a hybrid battery health check on 18/11/24. All hybrid Toyotas come with a 10 year battery warranty as long as its serviced to manufacturer standard which in this case it was. If there were any issues with the battery, you would be covered under Toyotas warranty. You sent us a message saying ‘within minutes we will know if the hybrid system is faulty or not’. We didn’t hear anything from you until 03/12/24 saying you want to return the car. To this date you still haven’t sent us their findings. You only made us aware of the rear demister not working properly on the 03/12/24. We advised you have a warranty on the vehicle, and you can have any issues rectified. But you are just adamant on returning the vehicle. Unfortunately, the reason you wished to return the car is presumably because you felt you had made the wrong choice. You bought a hybrid Toyota but expected MPG from a PHEV Toyota. You threatened us with a bad review to force us to take the car back - something we were not legally nor did we feel morally obliged to do. We can't simply take cars back because someone has a change of heart or they made the incorrect choice. You still have a warranty on the car. If there are any issues on the vehicle, please give them a call. Any issues, we’l be happy to assist.
